The Run Down

The board started as a group of young high school students with a passion for making a change. After the group of strangers started talking more, they realized that each had a deep connection to their gifted and talented identification. Ideas started bouncing around about merging the numerous different aspects of each student's GT experience into a positive program for all kids in the Colorado GT program. With such a passionate group and a meaningful vision, they were able to jump straight into action, making plans for how to turn themselves into an organization. After getting the logistical mission, vision and working agreements in order, they were ready to start making that change they had hoped for.

Getting Organized

Before long the board was ready to actually start making some public appearances and quickly the idea of presenting at the Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented (CAGT) became a popular idea. The group submitted their proposal and were accepted! Thrilled by the prospect of presenting, they quickly launched into preparation. After several conference calls, monthly meetings, and some intense arguments over outfit coordination, the group was ready and made their first public appearance.

After our first public appearance at CAGT the board decided that it was in our best interest to continue to develop our presence in other areas across the sates and Colorado's education system. We then presented at the Colorado Association of School Board's  (CASB's) Convention at the end of 2019 in December. We were more than ecstatic to hear that we were accepted to speak at this convention. Our audience consisted of school board members from across the state and we were able to showcase our progress as an organized student board through our website as well as our professionalism. We are very excited to see what comes next for us!

Next Steps

With such a success as CAGT and at CASB in 2019 it is clear that this board will continue to do great things! At this time we are continuing to have regular meeting as a board to plan for future conferences such as the 2020 CAGT and CASB conferences. Another very important current action is we are now focusing and accepting applications for our Colorado GT Student Board for 2020. Meetings are currently private but please take a look at our calendar or visit our 'Application' page for future an opportunity to become a member of our organization.
